From Local Lift Stations to Large Wastewater Systems: The Expanded BJM Pumps® A Series

The A Series is a Submersible Electric Pump featuring an Open Channel Impeller. This high-quality submersible pump is used for pumping & draining clear liquids & sewage. A Series open channel impeller pumps are ideal for wastewater treatment plants, industrial plants, farms and sewers.

Municipal wastewater systems come in all sizes. A neighborhood lift station may handle modest flows, while a master lift station or wastewater treatment facility may move thousands of gallons per minute.

To provide municipalities, engineers, and operators with more options across a wider range of applications, BJM Pumps® has expanded it’s A Series submersible wastewater pump line with new high-capacity A4L models.

The expanded range takes the A Series from small and medium wastewater applications to large municipal infrastructure, providing a scalable family of non-clog pumping solutions for today’s wastewater systems.

The new A4L models have a maximum head of 59.1 m (194 ft), flow rate of 1367 GPM, and can manage solids up to 142 mm (5.6 in).

Pump requirements can vary significantly throughout a municipal wastewater collection system.

A local lift station serving a residential development has very different flow and head requirements than a regional or master lift station handling wastewater from a much larger service area. Wastewater treatment plants and other major infrastructure can require even greater pumping capacity.

The expanded A Series gives engineers and operators more options to match the pump to the application.

A2 and A4 models provide reliable solids-handling performance for small and medium wastewater systems, including:

For applications needing significantly greater capacity, the new A4L models extend the A Series into larger municipal and industrial wastewater systems, including:

  • Master lift stations

More Capacity for Demanding Wastewater Systems

As wastewater systems grow, so do the demands placed on pumping equipment.

Higher incoming flows require greater pumping capacity, while larger collection systems may also face considerable solids and debris. Selecting a pump that meets the station’s hydraulic requirements while reliably passing solids is critical to maintaining system performance.

The expanded A Series addresses both.

Across the A Series family, available models now provide flow capacities ranging from applications below 200 GPM to models capable of more than 3,000 GPM, depending on the required duty point.

The larger A4L models also significantly increase solids-passing capability, with select models capable of passing solids up to 5.6 inches (142 mm).

That combination of high flow and large solids passage makes the expanded range particularly well suited for demanding municipal wastewater applications.
