Problem:
A leading manufacturer of high-end pet food products in Tennessee encountered challenges expanding their production capacity with the addition of 100,000 square feet, production lines, and washing equipment. Increased wastewater flow rates overwhelmed the existing conveyance system, while limited expansion space restricted facility design options. A traditional wet well-style pump station, which required deep excavation and a larger surface footprint, was not feasible for the site. Concerns over submersible pump cycle times, odors, and bacteria associated with open pits led the company to seek a more efficient solution.
The OverWatch® Direct In-Line Pump System effectively addressed these challenges.
Solution:
The manufacturer implemented the OverWatch® Direct In-Line Pump System, replacing the wet well with a modular design that fit into a shallow 48” deep basin. Installed through a 30”manhole opening beneath a pedestrian walkway, the system prevented odors and bacteria while responding in real time to fluctuating wastewater flow rates. This minimized the buildup of fats, oils, and grease (FOG) and eliminated the need for costly odor suppression.
The OverWatch® system reduced construction costs, simplified maintenance, and improved health and safety conditions on the production
floor. With quick installation, factory tested components, and easy servicing, it provided a cost-effective and efficient solution to support the company’s expanding production.
